Help Around the Mouse Clues You In on...

A Little Bit of Everything

Disney Shopping
Before you leave, go to Disney Shopping on line, and check out their outlet and other sales. You will be able to find sales and prices here that you will never find once you arrive at Walt Disney World. And, you will want some Disney themed vacation clothing. Even those who swear they would never wear a Mickey shirt lose their inhibitions when walking through the parks. When in Rome....

Pressed Pennies
To get ready for pressed pennies, buy several tubes of those mini M&Ms. If you wish, clean your pennies first. Load your now empty M&Ms tube with alternating towers of two quarters and a penny. Take this tube with you everywhere you go. There seem to be pressed penny machines everywhere.
Disney also sells penny press booklets to keep your completed pennies in. These may be a good idea if you know your child will enjoy this activity. Pennies, after all, do tend to scatter around a child’s room! A booklet keeps them together and easy to store at home.

World Passports
A great activity for children of all ages in the World Showcase is to purchase in a World Passport in Epcot OR from Disney Shopping before you go. ($13). In each country, Cast Members will stamp it and write a personal message to you in their language...don't worry, they'll tell you what it says. They include stickers for you to place on each page, as well as a spot to write the date and time. Passports give you a unique opportunity to have a conversation with the Cast Members from different countries, ask them questions and learn things.

Hidden Mickey’s
Hidden Mickeys started out as inside jokes among the Walt Disney Imagineers. A Hidden Mickey is an image of Mickey Mouse concealed in the design of a Disney attraction (ride, resort, etc...). Originally, it took the shape of a head and ears silhouette, K i.e. one large circle with two smaller circled on top in the appropriate place, but Hidden Mickeys can take on many forms.
In designing, constructing or adding the final touches to an attraction, Imagineers subtly "hide" Mickey Mouse silhouettes in plain sight. Soon, it became a tradition, and as the word spread, Disney fans everywhere went on the search for Hidden Mickeys in Disney movies, theme parks, and resorts.
There are literally thousands of hidden Mickey’s and, although there are websites and books dedicated to identifying them, there is no official list. How many can you find?

Your Feet
On an average Help Around the Mouse day in Walt Disney World, you will walk over 5 miles. More if you decide against our suggested break times. If your feet become sore or injured, your vacation will suffer. So, take good care of your feet. Clip your toe nails before you leave home. Wear great hiking socks, and well broken in, supportive sneakers. Flip flops are for the pool-- not the parks. If your socks get wet-- change them. And pack mole skin in your park first aid kit.

First Aid
Every park has a First Aid Center. You can locate it on your park map, But, Help Around the Mouse suggests that each family come prepared with their own tiny emergency kit. You can keep extra of your high use items in your room. Here is what we pack in an empty Altoid Container: band aids, pain reliever, throat lozenges, safety pins, moleskin, chapstick, pre moistened towelette. Adjust as needed!

Here is a very unscientific scoring of the attractions that are most likely to cause issues. Hints that Help: Request to be seated in the front car. And, don’t hold your breath! Breathe!
